Shanghai South Railway Station. Initially built in March 1998 and rebuilt in April 2002, Shanghai South Railway Station was reopend on July 1, 2006. It is a top class station on Shanghai - Hangzhou Railway, Beijing - Shanghai Railway and Jinshan Railway.
Designed by AREP from France, the station building looks like a Ufo to look it from faraway. Comparing to Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, it is more close to the downtown; Comparing to Shanghai Railway Station, it is more new. With many stores and restaurants inside, Shanghai South Railway Station is welcomed among business travelers. The station has both high speed trains and regular speed green trains and it serves more than 50,000 passengers per day.

Public Transportations to the Station

🚌 Getting here by Bus: Shanghai city bus routes 111, 156, 157, 192, 761, 810, 867 and 973 stop at Shilong Road and Old Humin Road (石龙路老沪闵路)

🚇 Getting here by Metro: Shanghai Metro Line 1 and Line 3 stop at Shanghai South Railway Station (上海南站). Travelers are advised to leave from either No. 4, No. 5 or No. 6 exit to be able to walk from the metro station to the railway station more quickly.

❕ FYR, 250 meters to the east of Shanghai South Railway Station, there is Shanghai South Long Distance Bus Station where passengers can take the coach to go to the neighbouring cities that the train can't reach.

Waiting Room of Shanghai South Railway Station.The main station building of Shanghai Railway Station has three levels. The upper level is used for departure floor, the middle level is used for platform floor and the lower level is used for arrival floor. Upon arrival, travelers please take the escalator to go upstairs to the upper level to find the correct waiting room and wait your train there.

Travel between Shanghai Railway Station and Pudong Airport

Best way to travel between the two places is by the airport bus line 7, with driving distance of 43 kilometers and driving time of about 90 minutes.
