Comparing different Railway Stations in Suzhou
There are four passenger railway stations in Jiangsu Suzhou, naming Suzhou Railway Station, Suzhou North Railway Station, Suzhou Yuanqu (Industrial Park) Railway Station, Suzhou Xinqu (New Zone) Railway Station respectively.
Suzhou North Railway Station, Suzhou Xinqu Railway Station and Suzhou Yuanqu Railway Station began operation in year 2011. Suzhou North Railway Station mainly serves bullet trains running on Jinghu (Beijing-Shanghai) High Speed Railway, Suzhou Yuanqu Railway Station and Suzhou Xinqu Railway Station mainly serve bullet G trains running on Shanghai Nanjing Intercity High-Speed Railway or Huning Intercity High- Speed Railway.
Comparing to previously mentioned three stations, Suzhou Railway Station has the longest history and it is one of the busiest railway stations in Jiangsu province with 40k passenger traffic volume each day.

Guide for Suzhou Railway Station
As one of the largest railway stations in East China, Suzhou Railway Station has total construction area of 134,000 square mters including 18,000 square meters for elevated waiting hall, 10,000 square meters for ground floor, 10,000 square meters for exit floor and etc.The Station has 12 platforms and 16 tracks including 7 platforms and 9 tracks for normal trains as well as 5 platform and 7 tracks serving for high speed bullet trains.
Inside the waiting hall, there are four waiting areas including two waiting areas for high speed bullet train, one waiting area for normal speed trains as well as one waiting area for accredited waiting room.
Automatic Ticket Gates or Mannual Ticket Checks
It has 16 ticket entrances in total including 6 for high speed bullet trains (A1 and A2 on the first floor and B1, B2, B3, B4 on the second floor) and 10 (from B5 to B14 on the 2nd floor) for normal speed trains.
It has 4 underground exits including one East Exit and One West Exit for the high speed bullet train arrivals as well as one East Exit and one West Exit for the normal speed train arrivals. Another 2 ground exits are also available.
Ticket Office and Working Hours
Suzhou Railway Station has 34 manual ticket windows as well as 26 automated ticket machines. The south ticket office has 19 manual ticket windows and all of the 26 automated ticket machines while the north ticket office has 15 manual ticket windows. Ticket cancellation window, ticket changing windows are both available at the south ticket office and the north ticket office.

The north ticket office work 24 hours a day and the south ticket office work from 7:00 to 21:30.
Passengers can find left luggage offices at the waiting hall, or at a place which is located to the east of the waiting hall. Rate is CNY 5 Yuan for 1 day for small items (total length of the item should be under 100cm) or CNY 10 Yuan for big items for 1 day. Suzhou Yuanqu (Industrial Park) Railway Station and Transfer Guide
Suzhou Yuanqu Train Station located between Zhihe West Road of Weiting Town and Huning Railway. Its opening closed the history that there is no train station inside the Suzhou Industrial Park. Buses including No. 115, No. 116, No 262, No. 161, No. 119, No. 166 and No. 258 are running from/to Suzhou Yuanqu Train Station.
Passengers can use the escalator from the ground square to climb to the ticketing office or the waiting hall on the 2nd floor to enter the train station. Passengers can leave the station through the underground pass and get to bus station that locates to the north of the square or the one that loates to the west of the square to catch a bus for your destination. There is a designated taxi pick-up area located underground.
Suzhou Xinqu (New District) Railway Station and Transfer Guide
Suzhou Xinqu Railway Station locates in the Hushuguan Town of Suzhou New District with construction area of 5,000 square meters. The following buses are available at Suzhou Xinqu Railway Station including No. 335, No. 329, No. 326, No. 34, No. 36, No. 529, No. 311, No. 85, No. 441 and No. 306.
Suzhou North Railway Station and Transfer Guide
Suzhou North Railway Station locates in the northwest Xiangcheng District of Suzhou city with 10.5km away from Suzhou Railway Station. Buses running from/to Suzhou North Railway Station are No. 811, No. 77, No. 819, No. 80 and etc.

Passengers can take airport bus from Shanghai Pudong Airport to Suzhou directly. Operating hours are from 10:00am to 8:00 pm. Journey time is about 150 minutes and ticket fare is RMB 82 Yuan.
Get to Suzhou Railway Station from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport:
- By Airport Bus
Passengers can take airport bus from Shanghai Hongqiao Airport to Suzhou directly. Operating hours are from 10:00am to 8:00 pm. Journey time is about 90 minutes and cost is RMB 55 Yuan.
Suzhou Railway Station to Zhouzhuang Water Village:
- Passengers can take a bus from Suzhou North Bus Station to Zhouzhuang Water Village directly (Suzhou North Bus Station is 500 meters away to the east of Suzhou Railway Station, it takes only 10 minutes to walk there). Operating hours are from 8:00 am to 5:10 pm. Journey time is about 70 minutes and cost is RMB 17 Yuan.
Suzhou Train Ticket Booking Guide
Passengers can purchase ticket from any of the railway stations in Jiangsu Suzhou at anytime. Some ticket windows at the ticket hall open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There are about 33 train ticket booking agencies in Suzhou. Most of these ticket agencies open at 7:30 am and close at 5:00 pm. To book tickets from these agenices, you are required to pay addtional RMB 5 Yuan each ticket as booking fee. Many train ticket booking agencies in Suzhou open 7 days a week.
Ticket Reservation Period in Suzhou.
Please note, in Jiangsu Suzhou, advance reservation period at train ticket agencies is longer than that at the railway station's ticket windows.
According to the official press release, passengers can reserve tickets from the ticket agencies for 11 days (including the journey date) in advance, while at the railway station's ticket windows, passengers can only reserve ticket for 6 days (including the journey date) in advance.
We recommend you reserve your tickets through ticket agenices for longer advance booking period.
New Round of ticket issuing in Suzhou starts at 3:00 pm every day.
China has world's busiest railway network. If you buy train ticket on the date of journey, you may get disappointed as tickets might have been sold out already. We recommend you book your ticket in advance to make sure your journey will not be delayed.

Requirements for Child Tickets
Instead of age, China has special requirments on child's height to buy child ticket. Requirments on child ticket can be summarized as the followings:
- Child with the height under 120cm can enjoy free rail travel and doesn't need to pay for rail travel. Parents can let their children share same sleepers/seat with them.
- Child with the height between 120cm - 150cm has right to buy discounted train ticket. Price of sleeper ticket for child is about 70% of that for adult.
- Child with the height above 150cm should buy full-priced train ticket, no matter his/her age.
