Comparing Different Railway Stations in Xi'an
There are three passenger railway stations in Xi'an, naming Xi'an Railway Station, Xi'an North Railway Station and Xi'an South Railway Station respectively.
Xi'an Railway Station is the city's main railway station. it's also the terminal for many trains. With annual passenger traffic volume of about 24 million, Xi'an Railway Station ranks No. 4 in terms of traffic handling capacity in China.
Locate in Lijiajie Village in Weiyang District, Xi'an North Railway Station mainly serves high speed trains. Passengers taking bullet train for Beijing, Wuhan, Zhengzhou, Luoyang and etc should depart here.
Xi'an South Railway Station, with the former name Chang'an Station, is a middle-stop for Chongqing-Taiyuan, Chongqing-Urumqi, Chongqing-Xi'an, Xi'an-Guiyang, Chengdu-Tianjin, Xi'an-Ankang trains. The South Station locates in the city's outskirt area.

Xi'an Railway Station Guide
As one of the major railway transportation hubs in Shaanxi Province, Xi'an Railway Station ranks among the largest passenger train stations in China. It's one of the three stations in China that connects with all provincial capitals with direct trains. The station locates on Huancheng North road in Xincheng District, with Jiefang road to its south and The Xi'an Circumvallation in its neighborhood.
Xi'an Railway Station is designated to undertake passenger transportation on such lines including Longhai (Lanzhou-Lianyungang) Railway, Xikang (Xi'an-Ankang) Railway, Xihou (Xi'an-Houma) Railway, Ningxi (Nanjing-Xi'an) Railway as well as Baoxi (Baotou-Xi'an) Railway. The station has approximately 200 daily arrivals & departures with annual passenger delivery volume of about 28.95 million which makes it the fourth largest train station national wide.
The station building is comprised by ticketing hall, waiting hall, luggage delivery and claim hall as well as some supporting facilities for tourism and accommodation. Its waiting hall is divided into the eastern hall and the western hall with 12 different types of waiting rooms including standard waiting room, mums' waiting room, waiting room for soft sleeper ticket holders and etc. Meanwhile, the ticketing hall, located to the east of the waiting hall, has 60 tickets windows in service.

Xi'an North Railway Station Guide
Xi'an North Railway Station is known as one of the largest passenger train stations in Asia. As a rail transportation hub of Xulan (Xuzhou-Lanzhou) High Speed Railway, Xicheng (Xi'an-Chengdu) High Speed Railway, Daxi (Datong-Xi'an) High Speed Railway, Xiyin (Xi'an-Yinchuan) High Speed Railway, it was put into operation on January 11, 2011.
Xi'an North Railway Station has 3 yards which is supported by 18 platforms and 34 tracks. Station Yards from South to North are:
Zhengxi and Xibao Yard: It has 8 platform and 15 tracks which mainly serves bullet trains running on Zhengxi High Speed Railway as well as Baoxi High Speed Railway.
Xicheng and Daxi Yard: It has 7 platform and 14 tracks which mainly serves bullet trains running on Xicheng High Speed Railway as well as Daxi High Speed Railway. It will be put into service in 2014.
Xiyin and Guanzhong Inter-city Yard (under construction): It has 3 platform and 5 tracks serving high speed bullet trains running between Yinchuan and Xi'an as well trains running among cities inside Shaanxi Province.
Xi'an North Station has three floors including the departure floor, the platform floor as well as the arrival floor from top to bottom.
From the arrival floor, passengers can access to the underground exit hall, entry for metro station or the passage that connects the south ground square and the north ground square no matter they want to walk out of the railway station or leave the station by taxi, subway or bus.
The platform floor has ticketing office, VIP waiting room inside.
Passenger arriving the station by car can drive to the departure floor directly, while passenger arriving the station by bus or metro can come up to the departure floor by escalator from the ground floor or from the metro transfer hall.
Xi'an North Railway Station is connects with the downtown by metro line 2.
Free shuttle buses are available between Xi'an North Railway Station and The Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses. The first bus leaves Xi'an North Station at 8:00 and the last one leaves at 16:00. Passenger can use the buses free of charge as long as they would like to purchase an entry ticket for any of the tourist attraction in Lintong District.

Passengers can take airport bus line 2 to travel from Xi'an Airport to Xi'an Railway Station directly. Operating hours are from 7:50 to 20:20. Journey time is about 1 hour and costing is RMB 26 Yuan.
- By Taxi
The shortest riding distance between Xi'an Railway Station to Xi'an Airport is about 40 kilometers. Journey time to take taxi is about 40 minutes and costing is about RMB 120 Yuan (for reference only!).
Get to Terracotta Army Museum from Xi'an Railway Station:
- by Bus
Passengers can take travel bus No. 5 (306) at the East Square of Xi'an Railway Station to travel to Terracotta Army Museum directly. Frequently buses are vailiable from 7:00 to 18:30 (5 minutes per). Bus ticket fare is RMB 7 Yuan.
- by Taxi
The shortest riding distance between the two places ia 35km. Riding time is about 1 hour and price is about RMB 80 Yuan on a taxi during daytime's working hours.
Xi'an Airport to Xi'an North Railway Station
- by Taxi
There is no direct bus running between Xi'an Xianyang Airport and Xi'an North Railway Station. Distance between the two places is about 27km, it takes about half an hour to travel by a taxi and taxi fare is about RMB 90 Yuan.
Xi'an North Railway Station to Terracotta Army Museum by Taxi
- The shortest riding distance between the two places is about 40km. To ride a taxi, it costs about RMB 100 Yuan.
Xi'an Train Ticket Booking Guide
Passengers can purchase ticket from any of the railway stations in Xi'an at anytime. Some ticket booking windows at the railway station open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
There are also 84 ticket booking agencies in Xi'an. Open hours for train ticket agencies in Xi'an are 8:00-11:30 in the morning and 13:00-16:00 in the noon. To book tickets from these agenices, you are required to pay addtional RMB 5 Yuan each ticket as booking fee. Ticket agencies in Xi'an also work at weekends.
Ticket Reservation Period in Xi'an.
Advance ticket reservation period in Xi'an is 11 days (including the journey date). That means, if you want to leave Xi'an on May 14, you can reserve the ticket on May 4.
New Round of ticket issuing in Xi'an starts in the middle noon.
